The first four works represent a bit of a new direction in my work. These pieces were initially inspired by my totem sculptures but without the southwest flavor. The first piece, titled “Wall Street,” incorporates a number of symbols; the horns of the bull, the claws of the bear, the linear elements of the market, the suits and the computer software. This is the beginning of a series of works conceptually based on elements related to my perception of New York City. The other three pieces follow this theme and are also representational of places in New York City.

The other sculpture in the group, titled St. Francis, was initially developed at the request of a client. I designed this piece based on my impressions from a painting by one of my favorite artist, El Greco. In this piece I have enclosed the figure more than usual and incorporated copper as an accent element.
