The Debra Louise Glann Scholarship Fund was established to honor the gifted artist Debra Glann, and to assist future college art students with tuition at the Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) in Columbus, OH.

Deb and I met in the fall of 1969 as students at CCAD.  One look at those big brown eyes and that was it -- we were married in the fall of 1970.  CCAD continued to play a central role in our lives:  Deb and I graduated from there; as a child, our daughter Kim attended Saturday classes; and from 1981 to 1996 I was an Assistant Professor at the school.

Deb remained focused on her artwork throughout her life, exploring the limits of her creativity while dealing with a progressive debilitating muscle disease, FSH Muscular Dystrophy.  Her paintings, prints and works on paper have been shown nationally and internationally, and she was the recipient of a Pollack-Krasner Foundation grant.  Her artistic passion and her unflagging positive attitude always amazed me.

Deb passed away in early 2003 from complications caused by Muscular Dystrophy.  As students, the scholarships we both received were a tremendous help with school expenses.  In that spirit, I decided to start a scholarship fund in her name.
