Statement: As an artist, sculptor, designer and teacher, I make art as a way to express my feelings, experiences and ideas and sometimes my subconscious thoughts.  It is my hope that the viewer can see what I see, feel what I have felt.  Many times the observer experiences more than I intended from their own unique perspective.  In the end my intention is to strike a chord with someone, to connect emotionally, physically, mentally and/or spiritually.

I have an affinity to steel as a medium.  It has a certain quality that I connect with.  I am drawn to exploring the nature of the material itself.  I enjoy the number of ways I can physically manipulate the material, from working with different thickness and tinsel strengths to cutting it, forming it and welding the various pieces I have created to form a final design. There is an interaction that takes place as I push the steel in the direction I need it to go -- a give and take between artist and material.

I have worked in a variety of media, including subtractive sculpting, molding and casting.  However, I always come back to this additive style of designing the three dimensional form.  The process of creating a variety of shapes and forms, then bringing them together in their own unique arrangement is always an enjoyable challenge and lends itself to further development as the sculpture progresses.
